OBJECTIVE;
To
determine
optimum
small
grain
seeding
rates
for
no-till
seeding.
RESULTS!
Spring
grain
seeding
rate
studies
were
initiated
at
Benchland,
Conrad
and
Havre,
however,
these
were
not
harvested
due
to
drought
and
hail
damage.
Winter
wheat
seeding
rate
studies
were
initiated
at
Havre,
Moccasin
and
Benchland.
The
Havre
and
Benchland
locations
were
lost
due
to
drought
and
hail
damage,
respectively.
Data
from
Moccasin
are
tabulated
in
tables
1
and
2.
Table
2
is
a
fallow
location
and
is
shown
for
comparison
with
the
recrop
site.
In
these
experiments
12
and
24
inch
row
spacings
are
compared
as
well
as
seeding
rates
varying
from
5
to
30
seeds
per
square
foot.
There
were
no
significant
differences
in
grain
yields
as
affected
by
seeding
rate
in
either
experiment.
The
24
inch
row
spacing
did
not
reduce
yields
in
the
recrop
experiment,
but
reduced
yields
about
4
bu/ac
on
fallow.
SUMMARY;
No-till
seeding
rate
studies
with
small
grains
were
initiated
at
several
locations,
however,
most
sites
were
not
harvested
due
to
drought
or
hail
damage.
Grain
yields
were
unaffected
by
seedincr
rate
this
year
at
the
location
harvested.
FUTURE
PLANS;
Continue
no-till
research.
